Phew

First a small phew that Comcast/Xfinity service has been restored in our locality, after having been down for about eleven hours.  How much we count on internet/e-mail service, (and in my neighbourhood for T.V.  - also down, but no bother to me).

Then a large phew for


Social isolating is less isolating when one can have video calls with friends and family members  (Joe and Dee in Northampton MA;  cousin Janet in Bristol, U.K.);  another Joe in London, U.K.;  Wes and Cindy Wasdyke in Chapel Hill, N.C.  (with a virtual tour of their splendid new digs in a retirement community).

 AND long audio only calls with Gwen in Lenox, MA;  Grace in Austin TX (so glad that both her children now live nearby, they visit in her garden);  and Lizzie in Bordeaux, France.  (It's a tough time for her as Jean-Paul is in advanced Parkinson's Disease). ALORS!  there has also been toilet paper hoarding in France!

I've not been able to find a way to delete the story I wrote about Micky very many years ago.  It's one of life's minor annoyances. The background   I have known the Keller/Bonsey family since 2000 when I became the Rector at St. James's, Cambridge, MA. They (Elisabeth Keller and the Revd. Steven Bonsey with their four children Noah, Sam, Josiah and Annie) had come back to Cambridge from Hawaii where Steve had been the Rector of an Episcopal parish. Steve had just been appointed as a Chaplain at Tufts University (no Sunday morning duties) so the entire family was able to enrich our common life at St. James's - which they did with great love and joy. I count them as friends and have stayed in touch with them since my retirement.  Noah, the oldest son is eloquent in Arabic (he spent a year in Damascus when Syria was a safe place).  He has developed a super career as an analyst of social media in the near East.    Noah worked in Tampa for a while a few years ago, so he and I were a...

It began in Bristol U.K. "A man dies" and "Jesus Christ Superstar"
