SEARCH ENGINES Blah and #@*?#@

Image
I went on line the other day to search for vendors of Pink Flamingo Garden Ornaments.  I thought that a couple of then on my front lawn would enhance the neighbourhood I tried both Google and Yahoo and was presented with the following leads: Ten best Pink Flamingo dealers in Sarasota; twenty best Pink Flamingo retailers; fifteen best mail order Pink Flamingo sources. I made up the story of wanting Pink Flamingos, but you know how search engines go  -  aargh. In truth I was searching for a window cleaner a couple of weeks ago  and had to wade through the many "best" lists  (including one, I kid you not, which proffered  the thirty best,  which must be every window  cleaner in the City.   Away from the lists I found a window cleaner who promised to come last Wednesday.  It rained all Wednesday morning, and again on Thursday, so I was not surprised that he was a no show. He has not called to re-schedule. I foolishly neglected to note his name and number so I cannot call him ag

I Venture Into Male Fashion

What you have to do when a wee lump on your head is snipped, and sent away for biopsy; but the wee (quarter size) band aid/plaster which was applied at the Doctor's Office is not good enough to staunch the blood flow.   You bandage the place again with gauze, and two jumbo sized  band aids/plasters. Then you think "despite my precautions it is likely that my pillow will be soaked in blood overnight". You remember that you have a shower cap; left over from the visits of one or other of your sisters. You wear the cap as a new fashion statement for ageing males. Do you think that it will catch on?

Jazzing up yer Rice

Cook the rice with the quantity of your choice. I cook mine in Coconut M/Silk which adds a rich flavour. Try to cook it so that some of the liquid remains. Let the cooked rice cool for a wee bit; then add the cut up pitted dates and add them to the rice.  (More date bits are better than less).  Throw in a handful or three of slivered almonds. Stir in the dates and almonds.  Eat hot with the meat, fish, or vegan substitute of your choice.  The dates add a delightful taste; the almonds add a nice bit of crunch. Yum land again! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leftovers are also good.  I eat mine cold. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adapted from a traditional Iranian dish,  as featured on National Public Radio's programme "The Splendid Table"   https://www.npr.org/podcasts/381444592/the-splendid-table The programme has a splendid  host  (one Francis Lam).  His giggle deligh
