My Mind Is Still in England It's the Music! (Nimrod/Change ringing) (Ignore the photo' of Mickey ScottBay)

I continue to hear two wonderful sounds. 1)   I am haunted by the strains of Nimrod which I heard in the Bristol Remembrance  Service  on November 14th. From Elgar's Enigma Variations  "Nimrod " as played in this link from the solemn ceremony at the London Cenotaph a few years ago. 'Tis a London not a Bristol link' https://youtu.be/O5sX99HODzg I suspect that those who do not like/do not know, or are not familiar with Classical Music will enjoy Nimrod. 2. Change ringing from a Church Belfry on November 21st. Change ringing is an art and skill which is on life support as Belfrys are too expensive to maintain; and as ringers are in short supply. The Bristol Parish Church of St. Mary Redcliffe was in  sight and sound of my Hotel.  As I wandered out on the morning of Nov 21st I was enchanted to be able to listen to its  Change Ringing.  My English heart expanded with pride. My English soul was renewed. https://youtu.be/unsZiKe2Mxs

The Great War is supposed to have ended in 1918   on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day in the eleventh month of the year. So i t is on 11th November that two minutes of  solemn silence is kept at 11:00 a.m. in both of my countries. Veterans Day in the U.S.  Remembrance Day in the U.K.  In the U.K. the broader solemnities take place on the Sunday after 11th November.  Many of you have seen on television the ceremonies at the Cenotaph in London on Remembrance Sunday. My home City of Bristol also has a Cenotaph. It so happens (and by accident) that I was there this year on Sun Nov 14th.  I could not get near to the Cenotaph because of the enormous crowds  ten deep. But I did get some candid  shots of Bristol's solemn procession,  Bristol Cathedral Choir Civic leaders in ceremonial robes Here comes the Judge Mounted Police. The one in front of this pair had left a calling card ??  Perhaps a school based programme (like ROTC).  Love the braids! Veterans Police.  They walk rather th

SWIM IN THE HARBOUR AT YOUR OWN RISK SPOKEN BY LOUISA M ALCOTT,  and by million upon million human beings every morning. NO NEED TO BRAG ABOUT IT! PRINCE STREET SWING BRIDGE NEEDS TO SEE A DOCTOR OR THERAPIST MY BROTHER ANDY DROPPED ME OFF AT MILLENIUM SQUARE for the short walk back to my Hotel.  As I walked I fell in with two "thirty something" men who were walking  together, one from Poland. the other from Somalia.  We had a good conversation. They insisted that my photo' be taken next to the hazardous water sign.  This was on my first walking stick day after I'd fallen down yet again. (My Hotel is in the top left hand corner of the photo'.)
