Farewell to Our Friend Bob

Image
We were a dozen or so "friends of Bob" met at O'Bricks Pub on Old Main St in Bradenton for a midafternoon lunch, hosted by Mike Roberts.  Mike has taken care of Bob's well being for the last five years. It was a lovely time.  No-one was overwhelmed with grief, so we were free to share pleasant stories about him. My friends Ron and Char knew Bob, so they were good enough to join us, traveling from their new home in St. Petersburg.

When My Friend the Revd. C.R. Lewis (Bob) died....

.. his friend, executor, and health care proxy Mike R  invited me to take whatever I needed or liked from Bob's rooms at Discovery Village in Bradenton FL. I did not need them but I took his cigarettes, to share with my pal Ashley.  I also found something which I did not need, but wanted.  g Titled  "Effort", it appears to be a carefully framed cutting from a newspaper; date and place unknown. It hung in the guest  bathroom of the Glen Oaks Manor home which Bob and his partner  Keith shared. After Keith's death; when Bob moved to Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay, he (Bob) had it hung in the bathroom in his Memory Unit Apartment. Now it is mine! It's never ceased to amuse me. Play Misty For Me

Image
Some forty eight years ago I was in the lovely English town of Chester.  I'd had a long and tiring day of driving.  I promised myself that I would stay in the first hotel I came across. It was "The Blossoms", and it is not too shabby. After dinner I wandered out and soon was near to a Cinema. The feature film was "Play Misty For Me".  It wasn't my kind of film. but it filled a couple of hours for me. Yesterday, 7th December 2021, Zion and I were at Sarasota's Bayfront Park at our usual early time. It played misty for us .  I loved it. Here are a few photo's, most without caption. At the south end of the marina, with Christmas lights dimmed by the encroaching fog The lone fisherman.  I love this photo' Ghost ship, can you make it out? At the Marina.  Service boat with green light The Bay is there, but can you see it? Mist notwithstanding Zion races up to get a treat from Uncle Kent, and to "sniff hi" to Z's cousin Dewey. The mist i

A SILLY DREAM and A NASTY FALL

Image
During the night of Dec 5/6 I had a silly dream in which the Most Revd. Michael B Curry was handing out bars of soap to retired Clerics. He said that the gift was to help us stretch our budgets in these days of high inflation. In my dream I turned and reached out to receive my soap. I turned and reached out  and fell out of bed, landing on my head. What a rude awakening.  Blood in abundance. Misery me Poor Floor Clean up postponed 'til the morning.
