The spiritual bankruptcy of some American fundamentalist Christians. The intellectual dishonesty of some American Republicans.

The spiritual bankruptcy of some American fundamentalist Christians.

On 18th January 2016 Donald Trump, "The Great Divider" addressed students at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.

This liberal arts University was founded by the late Jerry Falwell (he of the Christian Coalition), and is now headed by his son and heir, Jerry Falwell, Jr. It boasts 14,000 resident students and 100,000 on-line students.

Liberty University is committed to a Fundamentalist Christian "world view".

Donald Trump stands for everything which is opposed to the Christian Gospel.

He worships wealth.
He is a master of self-aggrandisement.
He has little or no respect for women, for the poor, and for those at the margins of society (immigrants and refugees),
He is a consummate boaster,
He believes in himself far more, (if at all), than he believes in God,

He is reputed to have said that he has never felt the need for forgiveness.
He has reduced the solemn Christian rite of Holy Communion as "eating the little cookie".

Donald Trump stands for everything which is opposed to the Christian Gospel.

Despite all this, Jerry Falwell Jr, the current President of his so called Christian University has endorsed Trump as his preferred nominee for the Presidency of the United States.

That's what happens when a Fundamentalist  Church  substitutes a right wing political manifesto for the good news from and of Jesus Christ. It leads to spiritual bankruptcy.

And I will gladly concede that liberal Churches often seem to substitute a left of centre manifesto   for the good news from and of Jesus Christ. That  also leads to spiritual bankruptcy.

The intellectual dishonesty of some American Republicans.

President Obama  visited the Islamic Society of Baltimore yesterday. He delivered a powerful and unifying speech.

See, watch, and listen to this:

Despite the President's  gracious, uniting, inclusive and healing word the visit offended Marco Rubio, who called it yet another example of Obama’s constant pitting people against each other. I can’t stand that.

Dear Republican friends.  Please watch and listen to  the President's speech.  Here is is again:

Then, pray tell me, where exactly in the speech is the President "pitting people against each other"  as Senator Rubio asserts?

I assert that Rubio is being intellectually dishonest.  I defy my Republican friends to assert otherwise,
