Hail and Farewell my good, gracious and wise President. I respect, admire and trust you.  I have been proud to be an American under your Presidency. Hail and farewell President Obama and your family. You have modeled and exemplified the very best of American values. You have graced and enhanced the White House with your dignity, grace and examples. You have been not only the "First Family", but also the "Best Family". --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- President Obama, you have governed far closer to the Centre/Right than I would have liked. But the odds against you have been formidable. You have been castigated as a "socialist"  (not that that is inherently bad from my perspective!), but I ask "what convinced socialist would have bailed out General Motors and Fiat/Chrysler; what socialist would have continued President George W Bush's programme to bai

As ignored by the "mainstream" media.

If you can please forget Donald Trump, Theresa May,  Xi Jinping   and Vladimir Putin for a few moments. Trump, May,   Xi Jinping   and Putin have narrow, self referential, and parochial views about the economic/ climate change/trade/immigration challenges we face. They would lead us into isolationism and dangerous nationalism. Only the German Chancellor  Angela Merkel gets the whole picture.  I admire her greatly. Forgetting Trump, May, Putin,    Xi Jinping, and even the estimable Angela Merkel   think about this  horrid crisis in East Africa, then  wonder why your mainstream media sources do not give a s--t. http://www.dw.com/en/drought-in-e-africa-leaves-millions-in-need-of-aid/a-37034825 (It's in Africa, that's why)

With the inauguration of Mr Trump as President in mind..........

............  here is a remarkably wise quotation from the Revd. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,  (as quoted on Salon.Com) “When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, extreme materialism and militarism are incapable of being conquered.” —  “Revolution of values,”  1967 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is what the Trumpian coup d'etat is all about.  "We the people"  are in grave danger.   (jmp)

Sermon for 15th January 2017. The Revd. J. Michael Povey at St. Boniface Church, Siesta Key, FL

Biblical Text.  John 1:29-42 The next day he ( John the Baptiser) saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’ I myself did not know him; but I came baptizing with water for this reason, that he might be revealed to Israel.” And John testified, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ And I myself have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.” The next day John again was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he exclaimed, “Look, here is the Lamb of God!” The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. When Jesus turned and saw them following, he s
