A Great Photographer - and My Most Beautiful Dog.(Gorgeous pics below)

Some will remember that I had a chance encounter at Sarasota's Bayfront Park one recent Sunday. I turned out that the woman I met had once had a public relations business in Pittsfield MA. There she had arranged for my photo' to be taken for an Annual Report by the Berkshire Medical Centre,    (I'd said something about spiritual care for the patients in the Report).  It would have been in the 1980's or 90's. She is Jennifer Joy Walker Funny thing is that our paths crossed many years later when Jennifer, her husband Woody and I  attended St. Boniface Church here in Sarasota.   But in our coffee hour encounters there neither she nor I  mentioned the Pittsfield encounter. Jennifer Joy Walker is a photographer.   Together with my friend Ashley we met at Arlington Park at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday 28th April 2021  for a photo' shoot of  the famous and photogenic Zion.  The morning light was perfect for out door photo's. I Don't Like Chili,: a Food With a Cold Name and a Hot Flavour.

Image
Or so I thought; maybe because I'd never tried it. Then I discovered Trader Joe's vegetarian "Harvest Chili". Pretty durn good Woe is me.  I discovered that it's a seasonal offering, and no longer available. When I found this out my first instinct was to sit on the floor and stamp my feet.  Then I remembered that Zion was in the car.  (windows open, shady spot, 8:00 a.m.)  so it wasn't worth the risk of being carried out in a straight jacket. Prudence encouraged me to be patient until the autumn. Then, even though I am no fan of fast food, I discovered that Wendy's has a delicious chili. Small but sufficient serving for the princely sum of $2.78. A more than adequate lunch. But truth to tell  there is a hidden cost for fast food inexpensive food.   It is the workers who pay that price,  The average (2021)  wage for for front line workers at Wendy's is $9 per hour. That's a bit above the U.S.A. minimum wage, but it is way short of ...

Meet Mr, Mayor and Mrs. Doolittle

Image
Most mornings Zion and I take walk around 6:30 a.m. at Sarasota's Arlington Park.  There we meet Mr. Mayor and Mrs. Doolittle.  This was on 27th April 2021 Mr. Mayor is an Arlington Park area resident.  His  "Mom" lets him out of her home most mornings; after which he does his rounds; greeting both  man and beast as he strolls the half mile walkway  -  just as if he were a small town Mayor, walking around her/his patch. He is well disposed to  humans and to dogs. Just before sunrise He stalks away Mrs. Doolittle with Zion's treat   Arlington Park at the Break of Day Zion and I go from Arlington Park to Bayfront Park.  There we meet Kent and his Schnauzer Dewey. Kent always has a treat for Z Pretty please Better get back to Papa before he abandons me.

On Receiving an Invitation Which You Don't Want to Accept

https://media.giphy.com/media/MQK0smyvIxErJZL6Yp/giphy.gif I received such an invitation (for lunch) by voice mail today.  For reasons which I will not disclose, I did not wish to accept the invitation. So I 'phoned the inviter and said "I am sorry, but I will be busy that day".  That's the truth, but not the whole truth! Thank goodness the inviter did not suggest an alternative date and place.   She accepted my regrets without question. Phew!

The Older We Get, the More We Appreciate our Siblings.
