Get Your Filthy Governmental Hands Off My Personal Liberty and Freedom

Image
Of course I should be King of the Road. As such I resent the limits placed by Governments on my liberty and freedom. I will drive as fast as I wish. Stop signs are for wimps. Traffic lights do nothing better than to slow me down. I will drive as fast as I can, ignoring these fuss-pot impediments to MY PERSONAL FREEDOM. BUT WAIT  "Aren't you in danger of causing death or injury to yourself, or to others? I don't care.

Such gorgeous Music

Image
Librera One of the most gorgeous themes in classical music is from Dvorak's "Symphony from the New World".  It is sometimes known as "Going Home",  because of a song by that name. In truth,  the wonderful music was not an adaptation by Dvorak from an existing song;  the Symphony came first, and later on a song was created using the theme. BUT NOW THERE IS ALSO THE SONG.    It is an utter tear jerker! Here is the text: Going home, going home I am going home Quiet like, some still day I am going home It's not far, just close by Through an open door Work all done, care laid by Never fear no more Mother's there expecting me Father's waiting too Lots of faces gathered there All the friends I knew I'm just going home No more fear, no more pain No more stumbling by the way No more longing for the day Going to run no more Morning star light the way Restless dreams all gone Shadows gone, break of day Real life has begun...

To Make You Weep In Days When Tears are Needed

Librera One of the most gorgeous themes in classical music is from Dvorak's "Symphony from the New World".  It is sometimes known as "Going Home",  because of a song by that name. In truth, the wonderful music was not an adaptation by Dvorak from an existing song;  the Symphony came first, and later on a sing was created using the theme. The most recent time my sister Maureen and her husband Bern visited me from the United Kingdom, I got tickets for us when the symphony:  "From the New World " was performed by the Sarasota Orchestra.  A magical time for the three of us! BUT NOW THERE IS ALSO THE SONG.    It is an utter tear jerker! Here is the text: Going home, going home I am going home Quiet like, some still day I am going home It's not far, just close by Through an open door Work all done, care laid by Never fear no more Mother's there expecting me Father's waiting too Lots of faces gathered there All the f...

MUMBLES AND BUMBLES

Image
The late Thomas Menino was the Mayor of Boston, MA from 1992 - 2014, that City's longest serving Mayor. He had the habit of eating his words, so much so that he was given the nick name of Mumbles Menino. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom deserves the nick name of Bumbles Boris. He is staggering through the COVID 19 crisis with no strategic plan other than that he will emerge covered in glory when  (and if) the crisis ends. He is as effective as a blind man leading a herd of cats through a maze.

UNBEARABLE EXCITEMENT MONDAY 11th May 2020

Image
Even as I worry about the COVID 19 virus, my heart beats fast as I remember the excitement of life on 11th May. The joy began when I had my quarterly appointment with my Podiatrist at 8:45 a.m.   My hard and tough toe nails clipped to perfection thanks to MEDICARE.  Who could ask for anything more in these COVID 19 days?  It's the best thing that's happened to me since Sunday May 10th. If that were not excitement enough I could scarcely wait until 3:00 p.m. when I had an appointment for Zion to have his annual Bordetella  Vaccination at the Humane Society Animal Clinic here in SRQ. Here is how they operate. Upon arrival at the Clinic you stay in your car, and phone them. After answering some questions,  a "Techie" comes out  to take your pet inside for her/his treatment. In our case Zion trotted into the clinic with the techie.   He was wagging  his tail as if he was going to a BORDELLO party, wi...

Newcomer In Town Sunday 10th May 2020

This handsome vessel is moored at the Sarasota Marina. Ken,  he who gets pulled around the park every morning by his handsome Black German Shepherd Dog "Tucker" Tucker truly tugs Ken around the park, but eases up when he sees Zion. They are sniffing pals tells me that the vessel is a Desco Company built "Dragger"  i.e. a fishing boat , now converted to become a house boat.   Also at the north end of the park  on the Gulf side  I saw this. A true sailing Catamaran --  beached. Had it been stolen and abandoned?   Had it drifted from the mooring field.   BUT WAIT, where is the sail? I saw this (and the Desco Dragger)  on my 7:00 a.m. walk on Sunday, and went back a few hours later with my camera. Just as I drew near to the catamaran a middle aged couple and twenty something daughter (?) also drew near.  They were carrying a sail, and other boatish paraphernalia.  Evidently...
