SATURDAY (17th July 2021) IN THE KITCHEN AGAIN

KEDGEREE WITH KIPPERS G  O  O  D! A traditional British favourite, now out of style (more's the pity). 'Tis good.  Very good! Mine was made with Kippers rather than with Smoked Haddock as the recipe below suggests.  Trader Joe's and Publix sell smoked trout which also works very well. It's perfect for a Sunday brunch (and can be made with chicken for those who do not care for smoked fish.) RECIPE  which includes a bit of the history of Kedgeree https://www.thespruceeats.com/super-easy-kedgeree-recipe-435296 I first ate Kedgeree  in 1975.   It was good then, and it is good now!

EXCELSIOR ! (Onwards) and Upwards.

I had a Cortisone injection last Tuesday (13th July 2021) to alleviate the pain caused by sacroiliitis. It's not a magical or instant remedy, but today I have been able to take some short pee and poop walks with my dear Zion, sans the excruciating pain. THIS IS GOOD!   My pain will diminish one day at a time.  EXCELSIOR! I am grateful for my excellent medical insurance. I am grateful for the tender care shown me by friends and neighbours. I am exceedingly grateful for Zion. I try not to whine when I set my pain on a world scale .  I am not one of the millions of human beings (made in G-d's likeness and image) who languish in political prisons or refugee camps; sans hope. EXCELSIOR!

BASTILLE DAY 2021 Vive la France!

Image
If you are a Francophile  (as am I). If you like the tune of  La Marseillaise (as I do). If, like me, you are an admirer of the music of Hector Berlioz. Do not miss this.   Play it as loud as you dare!   https://youtu.be/XoZYgqv3EMs Don't worry too much about the words in English.  The anthem (with many verses) is a tirade against the idea of foreign  tyranny. This:  from the French Government's official site Following the French declaration of war on Austria in 1792, Rouget de Lisle, a French officer stationed in Strasbourg, composed the "Battle Song of the Army of the Rhine" during the night of April 25-26, in the home of citizen Dietrich, the Mayor of the city. The song was taken up by the fédérés (volunteers) from Marseilles who took part in the Tuileries insurrection on August 10, 1792. It proved so successful it was declared a national song on July 14, 1795. Banned under the Empire and the Restoration, La Marseillaise was reinstated b...

IF IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR SHAQ IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME

Shaquille O'Neal at the Orthopedic practice which I use  (Sfrozo, Dillingham and Stewart) in Sarasota). No he was not there this morning (this is an older photo'), but I was. But if Shaq had been there I was glad to be there. My Doctor is the second from the right -  Dr, Stewart. I was at the practice for a treatment for the  Scoliosis    which has  plagued me for two weeks, and made walking an extremely painful experience.. Dr. Stewart administered a cortizone injection.  It will not cure the  Scoliosis   but it is already delivering pain relief. Twelve hours later the relief is wonderful. It's not yet complete, but it will be soon .  Z and I will be able to take our long walks.  HATS OFF to the wonderful  Sfrozo, Dillingham and Stewart practice.  To be there is almost as good as being with old friends. From the front desk through to  the physician/surgeon's treatment;  courtesy, efficiency and ...
