For many it would not be Easter without this hymn (Easter Day 2020)

Image
JESUS CHRIST IS RISEN TODAY It's more than likely that your Church will be live streaming  Easter Day services. There may well be music with the organ; or with pre-recorded solo or duet voices. Good job indeed. But many of you will miss this song with full choir and congregational voices. So here it is!  Sing along will you? You know the words. https://youtu.be/_6sj9ljVsfk

My recent visits to Seville

Image
O.K.  my heading was a teaser.  I haven't been in Seville, so my visits have been virtual. This is thanks to my Massachusetts  friends the Revd. J. Mary Luti (U.C.C.) and the Revd. Anne Minton (Episcopal Church). Ann and Mary went to Seville as is their wont most years. But now they are there they can't get home. So they are in their tiny rental apartment, living with the strict Spanish isolation rules. Mary, an elegant writer, has been posting on Face Book some wonderful observations of life in Seville during the pandemic. Her Face Book friends look forward to her postings.  They take us into another world, another culture, another experience of difficulty  and joy. Mary  looks, but she also sees. Mary sees, but she also perceives. Here is her account of the evening balcony wave in Seville. ---------------------------------------------------- Wave When we first started going our on the balcony at 8 pm to applaud health professionals and all thos

Fish stew with cod, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, and corn. (I decided not to include okra, 'cause I didn't have any in the house, fresh or frozen).

This, that, and t'other ( ramblings of a restless mind)

RUPERT BEAR entered my mind today.  If you were born and raised in the U.S. you may never had heard of him.   I think of him as one of my childhood friends. With his best friend Bill Badger https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rupert_Bear ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I thought too of Edgar Allan Poe.   Years ago I had an amusing  wee book which reproduced bloopers from newspapers, term papers etc. One which sticks in my mind is from a student who wrote that "E dgar Allan Poe was dismissed from College for gamboling." Sheep get it wrong too. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Variation on a theme. I prepared some Chicken Salad today.  But instead of the usual accouterments I used broken up walnuts and dried cranberries.  G  O  O  D  !

I am enjoying this healthy eating!

Three good meals per day. High protein, fruits and vegetables, low carbs.    No snacking.   I am enjoying my meals so much. For lunch today: Roasted carrot, parsnip and mushroom.  Leftover cauliflower cheese, with tomato added. A bit low on protein today, but some in the grated cheese used to make the cauliflower dish. The roasted veggies were "heavenly" especially the parsnip.

Am I bad for liking these during the crisis?

I spent a bit extra to buy these at our local Detwiler's Farm Market. Oh boy they are good!   Very good.  They have a richer and fuller flavour than the ordinary supermarket shelf eggs. I think that I'd rather spend  a little extra, and then cut my egg consumption in half in order to enjoy the more expensive eggs. jmp:  the two egg a day man.
