Just a thought

I was back at Res. House today. Truly the homeless ones are (mostly) so precious. “They” could be any one of us. Many folks are but one or two pay cheques away from homelessness.



Orlando, James and Ben will join me here for lunch on Thursday (23rd). I am already brewing the fish soup.

I have some questions.

1) If Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama because they are both Black Americans (as some have said) ; are all the Caucasian endorsements of John McSame because he is a White American?


2) Why is the Right wing attacking Senator Obama, because he believes that wealth should be distributed in favour of poorer people?

Have not the Presidents since Ronald Wilson Reagan viz:-


40 Ronald Wilson Reagan, 1981-89 (Republican)
41 George Herbert Walker Bush, 1989-1993 (Republican)
42 William Jefferson Clinton, 1993- 2001(Democrat)
43 George W. Bush, 2001- 2009 (Republican)

Redistributed wealth in favour of richer people?

    Michael,

    Your post points to the abject failure of wealth to "trickle down." It turns out that the formulation was a political trick to make the greed seem somehow noble. Like its twin compassionate conservative, it has shown itself to be a bald faced lie aimed at getting votes, pure and simple. Commentators on the right are trying to deflect attention from these facts. It is good that you keep them right before our noses. Thanks.

Last year I consulted with a local podiatrist: Dr. Robert F Herbold Jr. D.P.M. 4717 Swift Rd., Sarasota , FL – 34231  because I was being bothered with a couple of bunions  (yes I am at that age). The background   I have known the Keller/Bonsey family since 2000 when I became the Rector at St. James's, Cambridge, MA. They (Elisabeth Keller and the Revd. Steven Bonsey with their four children Noah, Sam, Josiah and Annie) had come back to Cambridge from Hawaii where Steve had been the Rector of an Episcopal parish. Steve had just been appointed as a Chaplain at Tufts University (no Sunday morning duties) so the entire family was able to enrich our common life at St. James's - which they did with great love and joy. I count them as friends and have stayed in touch with them since my retirement.  Noah, the oldest son is eloquent in Arabic (he spent a year in Damascus when Syria was a safe place).  He has developed a super career as an analyst of social media in the near East.    Noah worked in Tampa for a while a few years ago, so he and I were able to get together a few

It began in Bristol U.K. "A man dies" and "Jesus Christ Superstar"
